Honoring Outstanding Staff Through Values in Action Award

The Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary is proud to announce the 2023-2024 Mason Values in Action Award recipients. This recognition celebrates staff members who exemplify the core values of belonging, curiosity, excellence, flourishing, integrity, respect, and service.

Dean Todd Mooradian of the Raymond A. Mason School of Business praised this year's awardees, emphasizing the impact of their dedication: "In embodying these values—living them every day and in every interaction—our award winners enhance the quality of our work and contribute to a more fulfilling and productive environment. Their commitment to our community is truly commendable."

The Mason Values in Action Award, introduced in 2022, mirrors the university-wide Values in Action Awards and is given to staff members whose work consistently reflects the school's values. Last year, Beth Snavely and Andrew Gilstrap were honored as the inaugural recipients.

This year's honorees, Becky Hutchison and Julie Martin were selected based on nominations that highlighted their exceptional contributions. Becky Hutchison has been recognized for her unwavering willingness to assist others, outstanding work ethic, and kindness and respect. One nomination described her as "always willing to help out and asking if there are any additional needs. Becky consistently provides exceptional work with a kind and caring demeanor." Dean Mooradian noted, "I have seen firsthand the enthusiasm Becky shows in striving to help others, always with a smile. We are fortunate to have her as part of the Mason Community."

Julie Martin was also celebrated for her dedication and supportive nature. Nominations highlighted her helpfulness, respectfulness, and problem-solving skills. One submission praised her as "one of the most helpful people at Miller Hall," who "treats everyone with respect, finds alternate ways to solve problems, and follows up to ensure everything is resolved." Reflecting on her award, Martin said: "I very much appreciate being recognized and am proud to be part of the Mason family!" Dean Mooradian added, "Julie's proactive approach and genuine care for others make her a standout contributor to our community. Her support has been invaluable."

Becky Hutchison and Julie Martin received a certificate and a monetary award to recognize their contributions. The Raymond A. Mason School of Business extends its heartfelt congratulations to these outstanding staff members.
