Second annual MBA Awards recognize values
The second annual MBA Awards, held Wednesday, April 27, recognized first and second year students who exemplify Mason Values:
As a global citizen and member of the Mason community, I embrace the following values:
Respect and responsibility for self and others
A spirit of generosity
A life dedicated to inquisitive learning and development
My words, actions, and relationships will demonstrate my commitment to these values within the program and throughout my life.
The idea for the awards was conceived last year by MBA students who wanted to honor their peers for success outside of the classroom. This is the second year that MBA Awards were given.
Assistant Dean Jim Olver said, "Both classes have great students who have taken leadership roles, both formally and informally. What’s heart-warming is the number of different students in each class who have received nominations and testimonials from their classmates."
Second Year Awards

This award recognizes an individual who has exemplified excellence in leadership while at Mason. Leadership traits include, but are not limited to, being a self-starter, motivating others to leave the program in a better place than it is currently, working to resolve conflict, and developing bonds within the Mason community.
"Brittney has been positive in all the solutions she suggests. She's the first to encourage people to get involved. She's been a great leader and advocate for the school and all that it can provide."
Mason Community Contributor Award: Sarah Abreu and Rhonda Horton

"Sarah has put an amazing amount of time into the program. Through MBAA and beyond she has made my experience at Mason richer. She has a great can-do attitude and never falls short when she makes a commitment."
"Rhonda, as the Social Chair, has had the most direct influence over the process of building and fostering the Mason community through outside-of-school events. She also has a great, positive attitude, and she's always present at the MBAA General Meetings. She's the perfect recipient for the Community Contributor Award."
Mason Outstanding Service Award: Ed Moran

"How many countless hours did Ed Moran spend making Yorktown Victory Run the best ever community service event and raising funds for a cause?
