What appealed to you about William & Mary's program?

From the schools I researched, I loved the fact that William & Mary's program falls underneath the Raymond A. Mason School of Business. We aren't learning the theory of Business Analytics like some programs or specific industries like others. Instead, we jumped right into the heart of how to understand analytics, consume ambiguity, and produce clarity.

How was your employment search?

I won't lie. I had some doubts when I first heard that past students from this program received job offers within the first few months. I was blown away when the Graduate Career Management Center began planning my job search approach. I started talking with my adviser before I started the summer boot camps, and he helped put together a list of companies for me to pursue based on my career interests and location preferences. Once I confirmed the ones I was interested in, he helped put me in contact with William & Mary alumni at those specific companies. It helped me build my network and improve the job search process. During the fall break, I was offered the job I was hoping to receive when I entered the program!

What excites you about the field of Business Analytics?

I think the most exciting thing about Business Analytics is how it is consistently growing and having a larger impact on our everyday lives. The tools we learn in this program will allow us to affect change starting day one of our careers. Almost every single organization—whether it be business, sports, non-profits, politics, or military—is using analytics to make stronger decisions. Having the capabilities to be an individual who understands this knowledge is nothing but exciting.

How would you describe our program to a prospective student?

I typically describe this program as a great opportunity to be introduced to one of the fastest-growing career fields. I think it is a great program for anybody looking to jump straight into the heart of Business Analytics and wants to come out with having not only the base knowledge but also the practical, technical skills to be able to help make an impact in their future career. You will be impressed by the knowledge you are learning, the faculty members who are teaching you, the friends you are making, and the Graduate Career Management Center staff who are willing to help you find the right opportunity.
