Alex Carles joined Wellspring in 2001 and became a partner in 2007. Alex has directed the acquisition and/or divestiture of American Coin Merchandising, Vistar Corporation, Home Decor Holdings, Edwin Watts Golf Shops, Tube City IMS Corporation, Stripes Holdings, Checkers Drive-in Restaurants, Crosman Corporation, National Seating & Mobility, and Great Lakes Caring.

Alex focuses on the consumer, retail/restaurant, and services sectors as well as directing the firm's Healthcare investing effort. His active portfolio companies include Help at Home, AirSwift, Lucky Strike, Center For Diagnostic Imaging, and Milan Supply Chain Solutions. Additionally, Alex co-led the firm's stressed/distressed credit effort.

Alex was previously an investment professional at Whitney & Co. in that firm's middle-market buyout group. Prior to Whitney, he was a high yield and distressed research analyst at Lehman Brothers.

Alex graduated from William & Mary with a BA in Economics and attended the London School of Economics in the General Course with a concentration in economics history and finance.
