Under Armour announces Stephanie Linnartz MBA ’97 as new CEO
Global sportswear brand, Under Armour, announced that it has appointed Stephanie Linnartz, MBA ’97, as its new CEO.
Currently, the President of Marriott International, Linnartz, brings over two decades of experience in the retail and consumer goods industry and will be the first woman to lead the company. She has previously served as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Commercial Officer at Marriott International and as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer of InterContinental Hotels Group. Linnartz will assume her new role on February 27, 2023.
In a statement, Under Armour's Board of Directors said that Linnartz's "extensive experience leading global teams and driving growth in highly competitive markets" made her the ideal candidate for the role. The company also noted that her "deep understanding of the consumer and her track record of innovation and execution" will be invaluable to Under Armour as it continues to expand its reach and strengthen its position in the market.

"I believe in the brand's mission and am excited to work with the team to drive innovation and continue to bring the best products and experiences to athletes around the world."
As the new CEO, Linnartz will be responsible for leading Under Armour's overall strategy, including its product development, marketing, and sales efforts. She will also play a critical role in the company's efforts to expand its e-commerce and digital presence, as well as its commitment to sustainability. Linnartz’s experience leading Marriott’s multibillion-dollar digital transformation and Bonvoy loyalty program will be invaluable as the board looks to accelerate Under Armour’s online initiatives.
