Mason Business School Hosts Annual Washington Area Alumni Business Alliance Reception
Over two hundred William & Mary alumni gathered in McLean, Virginia last evening for the sixth annual Washington Area Alumni Business Alliance (WAABA) networking reception. The WAABA organization strives to build a better business community for the College, alumni and students in the Washington, DC Metro area, and membership is open to all William & Mary alumni in the region.
Paul Saville ’77, President of WAABA, introduced the evening’s keynote speaker, Rector Todd Stottlemyer ’85. Stottlemyer encouraged everyone to stay engaged and connected to William & Mary,
“There are over 20,000 College alumni in the DC metro area and we are critical to the ongoing success of our students and the ongoing success of our fellow alumni,” said Stottlemyer.
Dean Larry Pulley also spoke to the crowd and announced this year’s recipient of the WAABA Career Champion Award, Akram Khan ’96. Mr. Khan is the President of Pantheon, a technology services firm based in Arlington, Virginia.
“If you could look up alumni engagement in support of our students’ career success in the dictionary, you would see Akram’s picture,” said Pulley. He personifies what it means to be a career champion and for that we thank him tonight with this award.”
A dedicated volunteer of the Washington Area Alumni Business Alliance, Mr. Khan has worked to identify opportunities for students and alumni interested in the technology industry. He has also worked closely with the Graduate Career Management Center to develop a strategic corporate partnership that has resulted in the hiring and internship placement of numerous MBA graduates.
