Karen Locke Named to Pat and Margaret Walsh Professorship in Ethics in Business Leadership
Karen Locke, Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business was chosen as the next Pat and Margaret Walsh Professor in Ethics and Business Leadership.
The professorship will support Locke’s work with the Leadership Development and Ethics program, a year long course required for all full-time MBA students. Locke is thrilled to receive one of the College’s most distinguished awards. “Pat and Margaret Walsh are dedicated to helping the Raymond A Mason School make a positive difference in the principled leaders our students can become,” said Karen. “It is an honor to hold their chair.”
Central to Locke’s work with the leadership and ethics program at the Mason School is her support of “Giving Voice To Values”, an innovative curriculum for values-driven leadership designed to help students constructively promote principled conduct in the workplace. Locke has helped to shape the professional development of MBA students by forging relationships with the Mason School’s Executive Partners, a network of active and retired business leaders in the Williamsburg area.
The Walsh Professorship supports the idea that ethics training is crucial to modern business education, making Locke and her accomplishments a perfect fit for the professorship. “Margaret and I are thrilled to have someone with the experience and sterling reputation that Karen Locke brings to the position,” said Pat Walsh ‘66. “In a very short time she has brought tremendous energy and creativity to the Ethics and Leadership curriculum.”
