Mason Gives Thanks Campaign

The Mason Gives Thanks campaign at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business asks students, faculty, and staff to reflect on why they are thankful for the Mason community. Signs on tableThe annual campaigned, launched this year on Monday, Nov. 14, received many memorable and heartfelt responses.

“Each year I grow more thankful for the opportunity to work with the Undergrad Program staff, a team that values hard work, diverse thoughts and perspectives, and most of all, the well-being and future of its incredible students,” said Whitney Turner, the Assistant Director of the Undergraduate Business Program.

Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics Claire Rosenfeld teaches Financial Management, which is often a student’s first experience with the Business School. She said that she is thankful for “curious students with endless motivation.”

Assistant Professor of Accounting Ken Njoroge, who teaches both undergraduates and Masters of Accounting students, echoed this sentiment. “I’m thankful for my students, I’m thankful for my colleagues, I’m thankful for this school. It’s a great place to be,” he said.

Students holding thanks signsClinical Associate Professor of Marketing Dawn Edmiston agrees. “I am thankful that I have the opportunity to work with the most amazing colleagues and students and I give thanks for every one of them for the impact they’ve had on my life,” she said.

Brian Nigg, Associate Director of the Business School’s new one-year Masters in Business Analytics Program, is “thankful for the innovation of the faculty and the eagerness of the students.”

Mason School students expressed their thanks too. Hanna Linich, a senior Accounting major with a concentration in Finance, is thankful for the Business School’s strong academic focus. “One of my favorite classes was Intermediate Accounting with Associate Professor of Accounting Marc Picconi,” she said. “This class really challenged me as a student and helped me to find my future career path.” After graduation, Hanna will be working in the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Senior Kent Rollins is a Marketing and Government double major. Next year, Kent will be pursuing a Masters in Business Analytics at William & Mary. He is thankful for the many opportunities to succeed at the Business School. “The opportunities afforded to me in the business school have changed my life,” he said. “I don't even want to think where I would be without them.”
