Students, families explore business school during Family Weekend

Alan B. Miller Hall, home to the Raymond A. Mason School of Business, opened its doors to more than 150 students, families and friends on Sept. 24th as part of William & Mary's Family Weekend. The annual campus-wide event, this year celebrating its 50th anniversary, was an opportunity for parents and other relatives to learn more about life at William & Mary.

The Mason School kicked off the festivities in Brinkley Commons with welcome addresses by Dean Larry Pulley and Jennifer Dahnke, assistant dean of undergraduate and one year masters' programs. Guests had the opportunity to meet faculty and staff during a continental breakfast buffet and attend student-led tours of Mason's state-of-the-art classrooms and conference spaces. Other popular activities included MBA information sessions in which students and their families were given the chance to delve into the school's specialized masters programs in Accountancy and Business Analytics.Continental Breakfast

Lured by the Mason School's top rankings, W&M freshman Parsa Soltani took advantage of his first Family Weekend experience to find out if the business school was right for him. "It was tremendously helpful," said Soltani, who attended with his sister and parents. "It not only helped to familiarize my family with the school, but it also reaffirmed my commitment to my studies."

Hoping to pursue an MBA in Finance after he completes his undergraduate studies, Soltani particularly appreciated the one-on-one assistance he received from program staff who assured him that it is never too early to being planning for graduate school.

"I'm really happy that I attended Mason's Family Weekend event," Soltani added. "I'm impressed by the amalgamation of knowledge, experience, and learning resources contained in this beautiful building."
