William & Mary students sweep regional tax competition
Last Friday and Saturday, two teams of William & Mary students from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business traveled to Atlanta, GA to compete in the Deloitte FanTAXtic Regional Competition. The two teams placed first and second out of six teams that participated in the contest. The first place team will move on to the national competition in January.
First-place winners: Julian Kell (’17), Stephanie Levin (’17), Devin Logan (’18), Quinn Montante (’19), Qiuyan Ni (MAcc ’17), and Rumit Patel (’19).
Second-place winners: Heaven Leigh Blevins (’18), Megan DelBianco (’18), Matthew Giardiello (’18), Samantha Kim (’19), Sarah Taylor (MAcc ’17), and Chang Zhou (’19).
Founded in 2002, the Deloitte FanTAXtic Case Competition was designed to introduce students to technical tax research while also exhibiting potential career options and challenging students to work together as a team. Out of 23 years participating in the FanTAXtic challenge, William & Mary has won the national prize 11 times, and since 2011 - has taken home the top prize at regionals in five out of six competitions.
