Henderson Hospital and Alan B. Miller Patient Tower dedicated in Nevada
State, community and hospital leaders from across Nevada gathered on October 6 for the dedication of Henderson Hospital, the newest acute care hospital in Nevada. Part of The Valley Health System, an integrated network of eight hospitals, the new facility is operated through subsidiaries of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), founded in 1979 by Alan B. Miller ’58. As Chairman and CEO, he has overseen UHS’ steady growth and development into a Fortune 500 company (290) with approximately $10 billion in annual revenue.
The new Henderson Hospital serves as the anchor of Union Village, a 155-acre complex that is recognized as the largest healthcare building project in the U.S. by Health Facilities Management. The 142-bed hospital features all private patient rooms, advanced emergency, maternity, surgery, orthopedic and cardiac services.
At the dedication, Miller said, “UHS has always been known for its service excellence. We are recognized as one of the most admired companies in the nation because of our dedication to making the patient experience at all of our facilities second to none.”
Miller was the recipient of the William and Mary Medal in 1999, the T.C. and Elizabeth Clarke Business Medal in 2007 and he received an Honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from the college in 2014. He also was instrumental in the creation of the Alan B. Miller Entrepreneurship Center located in Miller Hall at the Mason School of Business.
