For most of the nation and much of the world, May 12, 2013 was Mother’s Day. And while it was a day to pay homage to dear old “mom,” May the 12th on the campus of William & Mary is also a day of change and transition. With the flick of a tassel, students who have been toiling for two, three, four years transform from student to alumni.

And the Raymond A. Mason School of Business hosted its part of the Commencement ceremonies at Alan B. Miller Hall, with a diploma ceremony in the morning for the Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting graduates, and in the afternoon for those who earned their undergraduate degree from the College, with a major in business.

And while the wind blew and the rains came to douse the MBA and MAcc graduates in the morning, their spirits were high and all were excited to start their next chapter.

The afternoon ceremony was a much more sunny affair, and all who attended were warmed both in body and spirit by the enthusiasm in the William J. Field Courtyard. Change was in the air for both groups, and the Raymond A. Mason School of Business’ Dean Larry Pulley seemed to understand that all too well.

“The truth of the matter is that you are so talented, and you are so very well prepared,” said Dean Pulley. “Most of the world can only dream about being where you are today.”

In the end, the Raymond A. Mason School of Business distributed diplomas to graduates from the following programs — 101 Full-Time MBA; 70 Flex MBA; 77 Master of Accounting; plus 12 with dual degrees, which combine business with another program of study at W&M.
