Flag honors MBA who died on 9/11
Douglas R. Messner MBA '98 is a member of the National Guard and former classmate of Christopher W. Murphy, who was killed on 9/11 at the World Trade Center.
Messner and others in the MBA Class of '98 honored Chris by funding the naming of Team Meeting Room -- 1016. He again thought of his friend and former classmate while he was serving in Afghanistan, arranging for an American Flag to be flown over the Regional Command West Headquarters at Herat.
The following citation was issued: "This flag was flown on September 11, 2010 over the Regional Command West Headquarters at Herat, Afghanistan in memory of Christopher W. Murphy who perished on September 11, 2001 in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center."
On Friday, Aug. 19, Doug Messner viewed Team Meeting Room 1016 and presented this same flag to Associate Dean Jon Krapfl. The flag, along with the citation, will be displayed there so all who visit may remember Christopher W. Murphy.
