WILLIAMSBURG -- On Friday, Feb. 18, 2011,  the Mason School of Business recognized 80 students -- including undergraduate, Full-time MBA, Flex MBA and Master of Accounting -- who were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society that recognizes achievement in the study of business.

G. Thomas White, Assistant Dean for Accounting Programs, presided over the ceremony, while Henry Mallue, who recently retired as professor of Business Law at the Mason School, offered principal remarks.

Mr. Mallue provided a spirited talk about the three qualities of Beta Gamma Sigma – 1) honor 2) wisdom and 3) earnestness.  He also encouraged the new members to find something they believed in such as an institution or organization and to make a lifetime commitment to that group.

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

Some undergraduate students were recognized for a second time for maintaining a high level of scholastic achievement. Several of the Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting students were previous inducted as undergraduates.
