WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The Mason School of Business Undergraduate Program hosted the sixth annual Navigant Consulting Case Competition February 18-19.  For the first time ever, the event took place in the new Business School home, Alan B. Miller Hall.  The competition brought together William & Mary alumni who work at Navigant Consulting with students, faculty and Executive Partners in an intense, twenty-four hour case competition.

With 86 participating students across 20 teams, students were excited for some friendly competition with their classmates.  “The Navigant Case Competition is a great example of our learning community here at William & Mary.  Students, faculty, alumni, and professionals come together to share ideas and learn from one another, “ noted Chris Adkins, Director of the Undergraduate Program.  “We’re very fortunate to have Navigant as a partner in bringing experiential learning to our students.”

On the evening of Thursday, Feb. 18, the teams gathered to receive their case assignment, and then filled Miller Hall’s team meeting rooms and classrooms to work all night.  The scenario challenged students to identify financial, legal and ethical issues, and offer a solution that exhibited principled leadership.

At 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, the students arrived at Miller Hall in professional attire ready with slideshows to present their case solution to the judges.  Navigant professionals and Executive Partners listened to the morning presentations and selected four top teams as finalists.

After lunch in the Brinkley Commons, the finalists presented their solutions to a packed audience and addressed challenging questions from the judges.

Navigant Consulting first brought the competition to William & Mary in 2004, thanks to the efforts of alumni Kathy Durdin, Bernie Woolfley and Kevin Davis.
