Dominion Underwrites Classroom for William & Mary School of Business
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Dominion Foundation has granted $350,000 to The Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary to underwrite a 60-seat classroom in the School's new building, Alan B. Miller Hall.
The Dominion Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Dominion, one of the nation's leading energy companies headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. The company will announce the gift and present a check to business school Dean Lawrence B. Pulley at a reception on September 25 in Richmond.
"This contribution ties together our twin commitments of energy efficiency and conservation as well as education," said Marjorie N. Grier, director of corporate philanthropy and vice president of the Dominion Foundation. "We are proud to support William & Mary's vision of academic excellence in a new energy efficient facility."
In addition to affirming its commitment to education, Dominion will present this gift to commend bold efforts by the Mason School to design Miller Hall according to cutting-edge environmentally friendly standards. The School is seeking Silver certification in a national green building rating system called Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED).
In recent years, Dominion's generous support for William & Mary has benefitted the Virginia Institute for Marine Science (VIMS), the Mason School's field consultancy program, and faculty development across the College.
