Dr. Rajiv Kohli Authors Report on Monetizing API Infrastructure Through Efficiency, Focused, and Transformed Value Models
Research Insights to be Presented to Exclusive Network of CIOs and Technology Executives During February 2021 Conference of Advanced Practices Council (APC)
Dr. Rajiv Kohli will present his most recent research findings related to the monetization of applications programming interface (APIs) during the February 2021 conference of the Advanced Practices Council (APC), a subsidiary organization of the Society for Information Management (SIM).
Along with his research colleague from the University of Michigan, Kohli authored a report on how enterprises outside of the technology sector can monetize API infrastructure to enable cost savings, revenue enhancement, and new business models.
The report, which was commissioned by The APC, the members-only CIO and tech executives’ network, identifies three value generation models enabled by API infrastructure. Through their research, Kohli and his colleague determined well-conceived APIs enable an emerging revenue generation model that was not possible with earlier connector technologies.

Kohli is currently the Raymond A. Mason School of Business John N. Dalton Memorial Professor of Business and Dean’s Research Fellow in the area of Operations and Information Systems Management. His research has been extensively referenced, specifically in reports related to Health IT, and has been invited to share best practices with the scholarly community. In 2019, he was recognized by the Journal of AIS as a top ranked scholar whose research has had the highest impact.
