The grants below represent Raymond A. Mason faculty-led projects spanning Accounting, Marketing, OISM, Finance, and Management.

Eleanor Loiacono (OISM)
Integrated AI as a strategic partner in undergraduate and graduate project management courses by embedding structured, ethical, and collaborative AI use into core project workflows. Students used a shared AI platform to practice prompt engineering, evaluate AI-generated project artifacts, and reflect critically on human-AI collaboration.

Tracy Johnson-Hall (OISM)
Revised and expanded Lean Six Sigma and process improvement courses by integrating process data mining and AI tools, leveraging William & Mary's Celonis Center of Excellence. Developed new instructional content, hands-on applications, and assessments combining AI-driven process mining with human-centered improvement techniques.

Inga Carboni (Management)
Redesigned the Business & Society course around a 10-week, AI-powered stakeholder negotiation simulation in which students negotiate against AI-driven corporate or community stakeholders. The project strengthened students' ethical reasoning, perspective-taking, stakeholder analysis, and persuasive communication skills.

Kurt Carlson (Marketing) & Vlad Atanasov (Finance)
Designed, tested, and integrated generative AI-based 'adaptive active recovery' activities that help students mentally recover between demanding learning segments. The project developed low-effort, AI-guided interventions that respond to student fatigue and engagement levels, improving pacing, retention, and learning efficiency.

Rachel Chung (OISM)
Designed and expanded an undergraduate course that introduces core AI concepts, applications, and ethical evaluation without requiring coding. The project developed new lectures, hands-on exercises, and assessments to build students' conceptual understanding, practical AI skills, and readiness for advanced, discipline-specific AI courses.

Mike Seiler (Finance)
Designed and delivered a new AI-accelerated Executive MBA course integrating AI into case writing, Excel-based financial modeling, and executive-level PowerPoint presentations. Students used AI as a transparent co-pilot—documenting prompts and decisions—to improve project quality, modeling accuracy, and executive communication.

Monica Tremblay (OISM)
Redesigned BUAD 5211 into an AI-integrated, case-based digital transformation course centered on a single evolving Harvard-style case. Students analyzed each stage of the transformation process, then used AI as a structured critique tool to stress-test strategies, compare alternatives, and deepen reflection.

Scott Gibson (Finance)
Integrated structured AI support into the online Principles of Finance course to help students scope and analyze real-world applications of the Efficient Markets Hypothesis. The project added guided prompt-engineering resources and an AI-enhanced group assignment supporting topic selection and issue identification.

Tracy Johnson-Hall (OISM)
Developed and piloted structured AI-supported exercises for root cause analysis in Lean Six Sigma courses. Students used AI to systematically expand from general causal categories to measurable root causes, while reflecting on AI's usefulness, limitations, and ethical considerations in process improvement contexts.

Eleanor Loiacono (OISM)
Redesigned multiple project management course assignments to integrate AI in a structured, transparent, and ethical way. Students used AI for brainstorming, scenario analysis, and reflection while documenting and critically evaluating AI contributions to strengthen decision-making and risk analysis.

Rachel Stephens (Accounting)
Created an AI-supported, game-based accounting assignment using Monopoly in the Principles of Accounting course. Students recorded and analyzed real-time game transactions, then used AI-generated financial statements and analysis to compare team performance and critically evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of AI insights.

Amy Xia (OISM)
Created a group, research-based term assignment in Big Data Analytics that integrates AI into machine learning analysis. Students analyzed published ML studies, extended them using course-taught models in R, and used AI responsibly for coding support, idea generation, and communication while maintaining human judgment and ethical accountability.

Kurt Carlson (Marketing)
Developed and piloted AI-generated synthetic datasets and in-class exercises for a core EMBA marketing course. Students used AI-supported analysis to uncover embedded insights in realistic, simulated data, strengthening their marketing research, critical thinking, and strategic decision-making skills.

Arturo Castellanos (OISM)
Developed and piloted a RAG-based AI tutor platform that allows faculty to create course-specific AI tutors from their own materials. The platform provided students with personalized, on-demand tutoring and question-answering support, while enabling faculty to integrate scalable, cost-effective AI tutoring across multiple courses.

Rachel Chung (OISM)
Built large-scale, AI-supported practice, tutoring, and assessment tools across multiple quantitative courses, including Python, math, data analysis, and AI programming. Funding enabled the creation of AI-generated practice questions, Khanmigo-based personalized tutoring, expanded synthetic datasets, and redesigned AI-resistant assignments.

Rajiv Kohli (OISM) and Seth Li (OISM)
Studied whether AI-mediated conversations can reduce social polarization by helping participants engage constructively with opposing viewpoints. The project created an AI-driven dialogue model, compared AI-based and human-based discussions, and evaluated changes in trust, emotional response, and attitudes.

David Long (Management)
Designed and launched a new Human Resource Management course with AI embedded throughout the curriculum. Students used AI-generated readings, real-time case studies, and applied HR tools (e.g., compensation modeling, interview design, performance reviews) to build practical, AI-enabled HRM skills.

Michael Luchs (Marketing)
Developed and delivered a new Consumer Behavior course with AI integrated throughout the curriculum. Students completed multiple AI-based assignments using real consumer data and cases to conduct analysis, explore ethical issues, and apply AI as both a learning tool and course content.

Jim Olver (Marketing)
Redesigned a Design Thinking course to systematically integrate generative AI throughout the design process. Students used AI tools for research, problem definition, ideation, and prototyping, while reflecting weekly on effective and ethical AI use to build skills in prompt engineering and critical evaluation.

Michael Seiler (Finance)
Developed and implemented an AI-driven, interactive classroom experiment that demonstrated anchoring bias in real estate pricing. Students participated in a simulated pricing exercise where AI tracked their decisions and provided immediate, personalized feedback to deepen understanding of behavioral finance concepts.

Phil Wagner (Management)
Created and piloted generative AI-enhanced case studies aligned with William & Mary's Vision 2026 themes. The custom cases exposed MBA students to complex, real-world problems while building critical thinking, communication, and technology literacy skills.
