Biography

Marc Moyers is a Clinical Professor of Accounting and the MAcc Faculty Director. He is a retired audit partner with 38 years of experience with the international public accounting firm of KPMG. He served in a number of leadership roles including National Sector Leader for the Private Equity industry practice and Office Managing Partner. His industry experience includes investment companies, consumer and industrial businesses from manufacturers to distributors to retailers, as well as food and beverage clients. During his career, Mr. Moyers has had significant involvement with M&A transactions, including due diligence, and assistance with various types of SEC filings, including initial public offerings.

Mr. Moyers also served a four-year term on the Virginia Board of Accountancy and is a member of the AICPA and the VSCPA. He serves several charitable organizations, including the Historic Rivers Chapter - Virginia Master Naturalists and Wintergreen Performing Arts. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

National Sector Leader, Private Equity, KPMG LLP, 2011-2015
- As national sector leader for the U.S., responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team providing services to private equity firms and their portfolio companies throughout their investment life-cycle. Responsibilities included revenue growth, thought leadership development, resource identification and allocation, and business strategy. Also served as the America's representative on KPMG's Global Private Equity Steering Committee.

- Responsible for approximately 175 cross-functional personnel serving clients in central Virginia. Acted as face of the firm in the community for KPMG. Chaired Virginia Steering Committee of The Accountants Coalition, comprised of leaders of the major public accounting firms.
Audit Engagement Partner, KPMG LLP, 1986-2006
- Served as signing audit partner leading engagement teams serving audit clients as well as engagement quality review partner on audit engagements. Industry specialties included diverse investment firms (including private equity funds, mutual funds and stockbrokerage firms). Also extensive experience serving consumer and industrial businesses from manufacturers to distributors to various retail outlets, including durable and non-durable goods, as well as food and beverage. Significant involvement with M&A transactions, including due diligence, and assistance with various types of SEC filings, including initial public offerings. Significant interaction with client audit committees, including initial adoption of SOX 404, illegal acts investigations and corporate governance evaluations.
