Inga Carboni joined William & Mary faculty in 2007. She received her Ph.D. in Organization Studies from Boston College. In addition, she earned a Master's degree in Social Psychology from Boston College, a Master's degree in History from Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Bowdoin College. 

Dr. Carboni's research examines interpersonal and intergroup processes from a social network perspective.  She has two streams of ongoing academic research: one focused on how affective relationships influence intrateam knowledge transfer and the other on interpersonal and intergroup conflict. Dr. Carboni is particularly interested in understanding the antecedents and outcomes for individuals who broker social relationships between groups in conflict. Her work has appeared in several journals and books, including Human Resource Management, Organizational Research Methods, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Group Dynamics, Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Journal of Management Education, and The Organizational Network Fieldbook: Best practices, techniques, and exercises to drive organizational innovation and performance.

Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Carboni worked in different capacities in industry, including marketing, management consulting, and project development. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in management and psychology, including Leadership, Cross-Cultural Management, Group Dynamics, Interpersonal Relations, Organizational Behavior, and Work-based Experiential LearningDr. Carboni has received several teaching awards, including the Thomas and Teri Dungan BBA Teaching Fellow award for innovation and excellence in the undergraduate educational experience. She also regularly leads workshops on social network analysis, leadership, and conflict management in academic and corporate settings.
