Biography
Robert J. Solomon, Ph.D. joined William & Mary's faculty in 1975. He holds the rank of Professor of Business Administration. He earned a BA in psychology, and an MS in Experimental Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. He received his doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Rochester. He is licensed by Virginia as an Industrial Psychologist. He teaches human resource management, organizational analysis, and managing change across the undergraduate and MBA programs. His research interests are in leadership, change management and the application of business systems to health care organizations and medical practices.
He has written three books and numerous papers on the health care system and practice management issues.
His papers have appeared in many professional journals including Journal of Medical Practice Management, Archives Of Ophthalmology, Journal of Health Care Marketing, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Performance, and Personnel Psychology.
He has trained thousands of physicians, physician executives, and health system executives nationwide to apply business concepts to medical practices and health systems. Clients have included Sentara Health System (Norfolk, VA), Sutter Health (Sacramento, CA), New York - Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY), Scripps Hospital (San Diego, CA), Promina Health System (Atlanta, GA), Integris Health System, (Oklahoma City, OK), Meritor Hospital (Madison, WI), Memorial Hospital (South Bend, IN), Memorial Hospital Southwest (Houston, TX), Hartford Hospital (Hartford, CT), MaineHealth (Portland, ME), Nebraska Methodist (Omaha, NE), Riverside Regional Medical Center (Newport News, VA), St. Mary's Hospital (Richmond, VA), as well as private medical practices.
