Biography
William T. Geary holds a PhD in Accounting and Information Systems from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics and his master's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Geary joined the William & Mary faculty in 1978 and is currently an Associate Professor. He served as BBA Program Director from 1990-1994 and he has also served as the Coordinator of the Accounting Program.
He teaches managerial and financial accounting. He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research interests are in management accounting and accounting education.
Geary has served as a manager in a public accounting practice and as a consultant for the design and implementation of management accounting systems. He has extensive and diverse experience in executive education with a special emphasis on designing and delivering executive education programs for hospital systems and physicians. His extensive involvement with healthcare has provided him with national exposure to the applications of management accounting in the healthcare industry.
