Biography

Elizabeth Foster is a retired audit partner from the international accounting firm of KPMG.  In her 25 years in public accounting, she served a variety of clients, including retail companies, construction contractors, local governments, not-for-profit entities and a number of publicly traded enterprises.  Positions that she held while at KPMG included Partner in Charge of the Virginia Public Sector practice (12 years), Partner in Charge of Recruiting for the Norfolk office (10 years), National Instructor (18 years) and Partner in Charge of the Mid-Atlantic Employee Benefit Plan Practice (5 years).

Elizabeth joined the faculty team at the Mason School of Business in the fall of 2010 and retired after the spring of 2024.  She has taught Financial Accounting in the MBA program, Advanced Auditing and Governmental and Not-For-Profit Accounting in the MAcc program and Advanced Accounting in the undergraduate program.  She served as the faculty advisor for the Winter Field Experience for the MAcc students and the faculty advisor for the Gibbs Accounting Society.

Elizabeth is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of CPAs.  Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Virginia and has served on the UVA Alumni Association Board.  Elizabeth lives in Norfolk with her husband, David and her son, Austin.
