Biography
A 1971 Naval Academy graduate and Surface Warfare Officer, my naval career included assignments on numerous ships. I left active duty but remained in the Navy Reserves until I retired as a Navy Captain. I began my career in the packaging industry in 1980 as a manufacturing trainee and night shift supervisor. I was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility, including positions as plant superintendent, plant production manager, and plant general manager. After joining PCA as an area manufacturing manager, responsible for nine plants, I was asked to develop a new group whose mission was to generate cost savings opportunities company-wide for our most valuable customers. This group remains today as the only such group in our industry and provides PCA a strategic advantage which is recognized throughout our industry and on Wall Street. I will retire from this position on January 31, 2014, and my leadership of this group will always be one of my proudest achievements.
