100% of MBA Class of 2017 secured paid internships

The Graduate Career Management Center at William & Mary's Mason School of Business recently announced that 100 percent of the MBA Class of 2017 secured paid internships over the summer.

Mason School students accepted internships with some of the most sought-after companies in the United States including Deloitte, IBM, Amazon, Booz Allen Hamilton, Comcast NBC Universal, Procter & Gamble, General Mills, and others.

"This is an incredible accomplishment for the class," said Phil Heavilin, Executive Director of the Graduate Career Management Center. "We are very proud of their hard work."

For students, internships are an opportunity to gain hands-on perspective while cultivating a professional network. They help to bridge the gap between a student's education and career experience and often become a gateway to job offers after graduation.

According to Heavilin, the Mason School’s Executive Partners make the difference by going above and beyond on behalf of students. "They offer invaluable support by serving as workshop leaders, mock interviewers, panelists, and resume reviewers.”

William & Mary alumni have an impact too. "Especially important are the Mason Alumni Career Champions, a group of over 500 alumni volunteers who share their expertise with Mason School students in support of their career aspirations. They are the connection between Mason and opportunities in companies around the world." Heavilin explained.

While Mason's professional network is impressive, the William & Mary culture also has a significant impact on the success of students.

"Countless times did I see students helping students, whether it was with a job lead, referring their classmates to recruiters, helping to prepare for interviews or just to offer their emotional support," Heavilin said.

"It’s a spirit of camaraderie that is rare - and not present in every institution, but it exists here at Mason."
