Undergraduate Admissions

A total of 220 students are admitted to the business major program each year (110 in the Fall semester, 110 in the Spring semester). Prospective majors must obtain junior standing—54 credits—and complete the following prerequisite courses before their first semester in the Mason School:

• Principles of Accounting (BUAD 203)
• Introductory Microeconomics (ECON 101)
• Introductory Macroeconomics (ECON 102)
• Introductory Calculus (MATH 108, MATH 111, MATH 112, MATH 131, or MATH 132)
• Introductory Statistics (BUAD 231, ECON 307, PSYC 301, SOCL 353, MATH 351, or KINE 394)

Each year, approximately 180 students are admitted to the minor business program, including 90 in the Fall semester and 90 in the Spring semester (10 students will be admitted to Business Analytics, Finance, and Marketing; and 20 students to Accounting, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Management & Organizational Leadership each semester). Applicants must select a choice of discipline at the time of application.

Prospective minors must obtain junior standing—54 credits—and certain prerequisite courses before their first semester in the Mason School. Requirements for specific minor disciplines:

Business Analytics

Finance

• Principles of Accounting (Required)
• Statistics (Required)

Marketing

• Macroeconomics (Required)
• Microeconomics (Required)
• Statistics is not a required prerequisite, however, it is required before students can take BUAD 452 Marketing Research.

Supply Chain

The Mason School of Business is offering a brand-new program for students interested in pursuing business studies. The Business Administration Minor is a summer only program offering a complete minor in business in only 13 weeks from May through August. The deadline to apply for the program is April 22, 2024. All students who meet the minimum requirements of a 2.50 cumulative GPA and 39 completed credit hours by the start of the program will be accepted on a rolling basis, up to a total of 50 students. The following prerequisites are required and included as part of the summer program*:

• Principles of Accounting (BUAD 203)
• Introductory Statistics (BUAD 231 is taught in the program, however, we also accept ECON 307, PSYC 301, SOCL 353, MATH 351, or KINE 394)

*Students who have already completed the prerequisites will not have to repeat them in the program.
