This program, led by Professor McCoy, focused on fieldwork and cultural immersion. During the trip, the group was based in the city of Havana, where they had several unique cultural experiences including a ballet performance, a baseball game, a visit to the local marketplace, and a tour of the city monuments. In addition, students learned about political, socioeconomic, educational, and health care issues that affect Cuban citizens individually as well as the country's development as a whole. Part of the trip was spent interviewing local community members to asses their needs. Last year the group visited Las Terrazas, a rural mountain community that the government exhibits as a successful example of communism.
