Students participated in a 3-credit on-campus course during the fall semester in preparation for a 10 day cultural immersion trip to Cuba during winter break. Students learned about the Cuban government, society, and perspectives while engaging in fieldwork that included speaking with local community members.
Dublin - Global Business Minor - Summer 2018
This blended minor study-abroad experience (May - August, 2018) is structured so that W&M students can meet the requirements for a minor in Global Business when they complete BUAD 203 Principles of Accounting and complete the 12-week GBM summer experience comprising of 15 credit hours delivered via one week of curriculum on campus, four weeks of online learning and seven weeks of curriculum delivered in the host country, University College Dublin. Based on faculty availability, the Undergraduate Business Program offers several unique study abroad opportunities over winter or spring break. These experiences are typically led and taught by Mason Business faculty members, offering an engaging international opportunity along with a top-notch educational experience. This experience was ideal for students interested in understanding and participating in international development projects to address social needs. Students helped others through building economic opportunities and strengthening communities.
During past summers, Business students have traveled to Budapest, Hungary to study at Corvinus University. An immersive and experiential study experience, the students learned about business in a Central European context.
In past years, Prof. Don Rahtz has taught a class called Global Business Analysis and Immersion that traveled to Southeast Asia over winter break.
