Field Consultancy

Nothing builds valuable experience and translates business theory into reality better than the Mason School's Field Consultancy Programs.

Partnering with major companies across the mid-Atlantic region, our Field Consultancy Programs provide second-year MBA students the opportunity to work as consultants on real business projects. Working under the guidance of our Executive Partners and faculty supervisors, students use their newly-acquired business skills to address management issues and propose solutions.

Mason School MBAs have confronted challenging assignments in areas such as corporate and operational finance, marketing, strategy, management and organization, logistics and transportation, human resources and information technology. Students may choose to work on business start-up through the Entrepreneurship Center or investment portfolio management projects through the Batten Fund.

Clients benefit from a fresh, innovative perspective on a business challenge and can observe your business savvy in action. In many cases, the experience leads to post-MBA professional opportunities for our students.

Student Leader Perspective

"Our Field Consultancy team was tasked with building a robust sales channel optimization model for a new product that had just been launched. Our client knew they could improve their current sales process, but they were not quite sure where to begin. Our team dove into the data and over the course of the project developed a flexible model that identified and quantified strengths and weaknesses within the sales process. With this model, our client was empowered with the information they needed to drive revenue and profitability. In addition ot creating the optimization model, our team also uncovered several additional opportunities for improvement within the new product launch. In our final report and presentation we not only delivered what was originally asked of us, but we also recommended several additional tools and strategies for our client. Looking back, the Field Consultancy program was an exceptional opportunity to apply our business education to an actual business problem, and provide our clients with something of genuine value." - Wes Atwood MBA '13

Client Testimonial

"The William & Mary Mason School Field Consultancy program is an outstanding partnership with tangible benefits. For companies it offers quality, insightful, open-minded evaluations of business challenges. The team's recommendations are actionable and practical. For the cost, there is no comparison in the private consulting industry. Companies also get the added benefit of seeing top job prospects perform in real-life situations. It has been an excellent recruiting conduit for us through the years." - Craig Connors, Vice President, PACE, Riverside Health System
