Biography

Gary Plaag is an Adjunct Professor of Business Communications at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary. In addition to teaching communication courses in the Flex MBA and Executive MBA programs, he owns and operates Couragio Consulting, a Williamsburg-based communication consulting practice he started in 1998, following a 19-year career in Information Technology management and leadership.

He has over 21 years of experience conducting seminars and individual coaching sessions for executives and leaders in law enforcement, financial services, information technology, nursing, association management, and commercial construction. Mr. Plaag specializes in helping clients develop and hone their presentation and public speaking skills, networking skills, interpersonal communication skills, as well as mitigate performance anxiety and enhance audience engagement.

Prior to moving from Northern Virginia to the Williamsburg area in 2014, he served as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Communication at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia from 2003-2010, where he taught Public Speaking, Public Speaking with Technology, and Business and Professional Communication.
