Matsushima is an independent consultant and an international business advisor focusing on multicultural business management, corporate social responsibility, and cross-cultural communication for profit and nonprofit organizations. Matsushima was president and CEO of Arai Americas in Virginia Beach, VA. He was formerly Executive Vice President of the Sealing Products Division of SKF, a Swedish conglomerate in Elgin, IL and deputy general manager of the Engineering Division of NOK, a Japanese multinational automotive component manufacturing company. He served as Executive Vice President and acting President of NOK-USA, with particular responsibility for marketing, engineering, and manufacturing in the North American market. Matsushima holds 26 patents in the USA and Japan and was ISO delegate from Japan to five global conferences.
He has received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Waseda University in Tokyo and holds a master’s of management degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He is a professional engineer registered in California. He is active in community service nationally and internationally. His wife’s name is Kathleen and together they have three children and three grandchildren.
