BiographyMamikonian has spent over a decade living and working in the former Soviet Union transforming organizations through the creation and implementation of Human
Resources strategies and policies.
Combining his fluency in Russian, his educational background and Human Resources experience, he participated in the establishment of joint venture operations throughout Russia and Ukraine as Human Resources Director for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco International and The Gillette Company, at the Chevron oilfield in Kazakhstan and two
gold mining companies, Newmont Mining in Uzbekistan as Human Resources Director and Managing Director and Kumtor Mining in Kyrgyzstan as Vice President, Human
Resources where he held additional responsibilities for Corporate, Public and Government Relations. His primary brief during this period was to integrate western company operations and to recruit and develop local management talent to achieve company profit objectives and growth.
Prior to going abroad, Mamikonian held a variety of progressively responsible Human Resources positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, Continental Grain Company and other organizations. Most recently he was a Senior Consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison
in the career transition field, advising executives, middle managers and employees in job search strategies and processes for successful reentry into the workplace.
He has a bachelor's degree in Russian Language and Literature from Columbia
College, Columbia University and has completed postgraduate work in Soviet Studies at Georgetown University. In addition to Russian, Mamikonian is also fluent in French with a command of German.
Mamikonian is a retired Naval Officer who served as Presidential Translator on the Washington-Moscow Hotline.
