Picardi was entrepreneurial owner/operator of MDP Group, part of a nationwide business brokerage organization, with an office in the San Francisco Bay Area. His achievements there included being the first nationwide user of the Internet for business sales. He also designed and implemented a performance-based bonus system that recognized continuous monthly sales, rather than annual sales, which resulted in sustained top revenue performance. His previous thirty years were spent in defense electronics, gaining expertise in high technology development and pilot production of sophisticated military defense systems for domestic and international governmental agencies of the United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Israel.
He served as a Vice President of Program Management, with P&L responsibilities, for such companies as Loral, Dalmo Victor of General Instruments, and in director level management capacities for Kaiser Electronics and Perkin-Elmer Aerospace.
Picardi has a bachelor's degree from Purdue University.
