Francis Brake

General Management


Among his many hats as co-founder of Global Research and Development Company Inc. (GRAD), Brake serves as President and Chief Operating Officer and is on the board of directors. GRAD is a joint venture consortium involving major international companies to develop and accelerate availability of 'next generation' engineering and manufacturing technologies for heavy industry. In addition to his work at GRAD, Brake currently serves as adjunct faculty for the MBA program at The Mason School and is President of New Bridge Advanced Management LLC, an independent management consulting services business. Brake was formerly Managing Director for International Operations, a post preceded by other executive positions at Newport News Shipbuilding where he developed and managed multiple business transformation programs and technology-based initiatives.

He also served on the board and led international industrial organizations for advancement of technology-based business initiatives. 

A retired officer of the U.S. Air Force, he completed his military career with widely varied assignments and was selected for promotions up to Colonel.

Brake received his bachelor's degree from Belmont Abbey College, his master's degree in business management from Central Michigan University, and he graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and (Joint) Armed Forces Staff College as well as completed executive programs at several prominent universities.
