A scholar-practitioner, Dr. Nelson brings 30+ years of experience as a global human resources business leader with GE Healthcare in Milwaukee, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore, where she collaborated with Global P&L, Region and Functional leaders to provide wing-to-wing HR strategy and business support. Career highlights included organization designs, Asia Region start-up, M&A due diligence/integrations, large scale change initiatives, succession planning, talent development, staffing, executive assessments and Six Sigma. She has also been an executive and leadership coach for 10+ years, and holds the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) designation from the International Coach Federation. Her early career experience includes student affairs positions with the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and Michigan State University.
Dr. Nelson completed her doctoral degree at George Washington University in Human & Organizational Learning in 2018. Her dissertation research focused how global business executives navigate change and paradox. She also holds a Masters in Labor & Industrial Relations from Michigan State University and a MA/BS from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Additionally, Dr. Nelson is an Executive Partner at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business; an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Richmond; and a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond.
Her research interests include global leadership, organizational change, paradox, human resources and learning agility.
