John P. Cryer currently works as a part-time independent Defense Consultant, working individually with Defense Corporations/Businesses, and as an associate with Burdeshaw, Inc., a private defense consulting business located in Bethesda, MD.
John began this business after retiring from Northrop Grumman Corporation in 2014 where he had worked as Director for Naval Aircraft Programs for company Government Relations.
In prior assignments with the U.S. Navy, John served as Commander, Naval Space Command, Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force Southwest Asia, Combined Air Operations Director, Operation Enduring Freedom, Deputy Requirements Director, OpNav staff and Commander, VAQ Wing Pacific Fleet. John retired from the Navy in 2005 as a Rear Admiral.
John holds a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville University and master’s degrees from Salve Regina College, Naval War College and the National War College.
