Mason Career Champions

The Mason Career Champions are volunteers who have offered to help the next generation of Mason School of Business students in support of their career aspirations. Champions have offered to share expertise regarding corporate culture, interview skills, industry trends, job function, tips for success, regional understandings and other career related inquiries. Champions may be in a position to provide corporate direction and mindful networking.

Within the Mason Career Champions there are two groups of alumni ready to support Mason School of Business students:

WAABA Career Champions: A structured group of alumni and friends keenly focused on students interested in careers in the Washington DC area.

The Mason Career Champions: A national group of alumni who have responded to Dean Larry Pulley's request that they help the school through their willingness to share specific expertise and experience with our students.

Students wishing to contact Champions are asked to follow best practices to ensure a mutually rewarding exchange:

  • Make contact first, via email or LinkedIn
  • Articulate the purpose of connecting by communicating with the Champion in advance, along with sending a resume
  • Inquire how best to communicate: in person, phone, Skype
  • Follow-up with the Champion after connecting
  • Understand that this is an opportunity for career advice, not to ask for a job
