Jumping into her IPS
Carmen Pop is a high-energy, adventurous undergraduate business student. She is taking the world by storm with her international background, international internship, and interest in international business. How is her IPS helping her live life to the fullest? Carmen's thoughts are below:
About me
I'm an international student athlete from the Netherlands who plays for the Tribe tennis team. I am always eager to meet new people and find out new things about those I meet in my life. On my downtime, I am an amateur photographer. I also love listening to music and playing jokes on my friends.
On the business side, my major is Marketing with a concentration in Process Management & Consulting and I will graduate next year May. I'm doing an internship right now in the Central Business District of Sydney working in marketing and advertising.
Highlights
The biggest highlight from my Business experience would have to be my often visits at the Undergraduate Business Program office. I just walk in to have a chat with everyone and every time I leave, I leave with a smile on my face. All the professors and staff in the Business School have always been so nice and devoted to the program from day one. Thanks to them I'm having a great Business School experience. We are one big 'business' family!
Defining Moment
I am excited about all of my major coursework. Whether it is creating a YouTube video for my Consumer Behavior class, meeting with the founders of Historic Triangle Green Alliance for my Sustainability class or exporting a product to the UK for my Global Marketing class; they were all amazing projects that I got to do in the Business School.
Consumer Behavior with Prof. Lisa Szykman was one of my favorite
classes at William & Mary so far. Not only is she an amazing professor, her
classes were also super entertaining while informative. I always looked forward to it. Thanks to
Professor Szykman's class I realized what I was interested in and what I would
like to do in my business career.
Future Plans
Right now, I am studying abroad and interning in Sydney, Australia. If it weren't for the help of the program advisors in the application process, I wouldn't have been able to go to the other side of the world.
My summer plans are to travel and explore different cultures
and meet new people. I still really want to climb Machu Picchu in Peru, go cage
diving with sharks in South Africa and walk on the Great Wall in China. In
general I just really want to see and learn more about South America, Africa
and Asia. Life is just too short to not have fun and enjoy to the fullest.
After graduation, I plan to work for an international company in order to gain further insights and experiences in international business. I plan to use my marketing and language skills to become successful. I would like to start my own company later down the road but who knows what my future will bring!
