Traveling with the W&M Tribe
During winter break Andrew Blasi found himself in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam as part of the Mason School of Business Global Immersion Program with Prof. Don Rahtz. With his finance major and love of world travel, will his IPS bring him back to Southeast Asia?
About Me
Born and raised in South Florida, I fell in love with the College of William & Mary during a visit to the campus in high school for an advanced course in economics. One of my greatest passions is traveling around the world and so far I have visited over 30 different countries on five continents. In 2008, I served as the Department of State's Pamela Harriman Fellow in the Office of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom in London. I am majoring in Finance at the Mason School of Business, was a participant in the Global Business Immersion: Southeast Asia program, and a recipient of the 2008 Accenture Scholarship. I am an avid fan of my family, boating, and deep sea fishing.
Highlights
The two greatest highlights from my experience at the Mason School is having the opportunity to take courses and study in Alan B. Miller Hall as well as participate in the program's Southeast Asia immersion program. The former has tremendously enhanced the world-class education I have received and the latter took our studies and allowed us to apply them to the real world of international business. The Mason School's remarkable faculty brought an incredible amount of experience into the classroom and this is also something I will never forget. My favorite course in particular was Negotiation with Prof. Bill Stewart. I would recommend every business student, regardless of major to take this course as you will learn invaluable skills through simulated negotiations. In addition, the undergraduate office staff are some of the most remarkable and friendly people that I have met at the College; they go extra lengths to assist students.
Defining Moment & Future Plans
Participating in the Global Business Immersion program in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam solidified my interest in Southeast Asia and from that point forward I have decided to pursue a future in international business and trade related to the region. The global exposure offered by the Mason School of Business has enabled me to pursue these plans and given me the knowledge to succeed in those fields.
