Summer Bootcamp

What is Bootcamp?

Two courses, Financial Reporting &  Analysis and Auditing & Internal Controls, are each offered in an intensive, two-week format immediately prior to the start of classes.  Students needing to complete these courses prior to matriculation are welcome to take them on campus.  Typically, Financial Reporting & Analysis is offered beginning in mid-July, followed by Auditing in early August.

What's it like?

Students who have taken these courses in the past have found the experience to be demanding, but quite rewarding.  The group that goes through this experience together develops a camaraderie that carries forward into the academic year and throughout the program.  A social event at the end of the first week of each course adds to the group's bonding experience.

What is the cost?

The cost for each course during the summer of 2009 will be $2,700 for out-of-state residents, and $1,545 for in-state students.

Financial Reporting & Analysis*
This course satisfies the Intermediate Accounting prerequisite. The course provides an intensive study of the generally accepted accounting principles for asset valuation, income measurement, and financial statement presentation. Analysis of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, together with the theory of valuation underlying the various accounts used in these statements. Includes challenging issues in financial accounting including leases, pensions, and income taxes.

Auditing & Internal Controls*
This course satisfies the Auditing prerequisite. The course provides a study of generally accepted auditing standards, with an emphasis on the application of technology, modeling, statistics, and other auditing procedures. Includes strong focus on reporting, ethics, and international practices.

*Students participating in the bootcamps will receive three undergraduate credits per course.  These fulfill the prerequisite requirements but do not count toward the  MAcc degree.
