Diversity and International Communities

The Mason School of Business community includes a diverse group of faculty, students, alumni, Executive Partners and corporate leaders who share a common interest in creating a stimulating, personalized academic and professional environment.

With a growing emphasis on management issues that span the globe, international students add valuable insight to the experiences shared in student teams and classroom discussions. Approximately 35 percent of our current MBA student body hails from outside the United States.

Student Events

Diwali Celebration:  Diwali is better known as the 'Festival of Lights' and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.  The festivities are spread over a period of five days, each day being associated with different legends and beliefs.  Festivities include lighting lamps, meeting & greeting people, preparing sweets & savories and lighting firecrackers!

International Night:  This event showcases the variety of cultures represented by our international students.  Students exhibit their  native costumes, music, and cuisines, display photographs, and give an insight into the everyday life in their countries.

International Trips

Global Business Immersion:  For the past 10 years, the Southeast Asia trip provides both class meetings and three weeks of overseas study.  This trip, taught by Professor Don Rahtz; focuses on the Global Business domain.  

Students will visit the Bank of Thailand as well as places like Proctor & Gamble and Nike.  The countries that are visited are Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Business Seminar in Paris:  The Mason School of Business partners with the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) to provide a series of seminars (in English) concerning business and marketing in Europe. There are also visits to major French companies and a visit to the EU in Brussels.

The schedule will provide sufficient time to enjoy Paris, and give you a perspective of business in Europe.  Students will meet for the first half of the spring semester, studying business practices in the countries of the European Union. You will each make a country presentation.
