Biography
Mr. Ferrante is an adjunct professor and executive partner in the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He teaches in the area of management of information systems, business modeling and simulation, and operations management. He previously served as an associate faculty in JHU’s Carey Business School where he taught in the area of telecommunications architecture, standard, protocols, and wireless systems.
Mr. Ferrante founded an independent consultant firm in telecommunications systems, FEF Group, LLC, and was co-founder of a security certification firm, ComCert, Inc. He retired from Mitretek Systems, Inc., a technical non-for-profit engineering services firm (now Noblis, Inc.), which was founded as a spin-off from MITRE Corp., a not-for-profit federally funded R&D center for the DoD. At Mitretek and MITRE he directed & managed telecommunications research and government project evaluations.
Mr. Ferrante was R&D Technical Director with Northrop/Page Communications Engineers and a senior manager in the telecommunications services industry. He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and was elected to the Board of Governors for the IEEE Computer Society through 2012. He was appointed Treasurer of the Computer Society for 2010 and also serves also as chair of the Electronic Products and Services committee.
Mr. Ferrante was editor-in-chief (EIC) of the Computer Society’s IT Professional Magazine for two terms and now serves as an advisory board member. He also served two terms as chair of the IEEE-USA’s Medical Technology Policy Committee in Washington, D.C.
