2009 August Residency
| September 9, 2009
The Class of 2010 traveled to Washington DC for their second residency week in August 2009 and stayed in Dupont Circle. Classes were held at the William & Mary DC Office in the Carnegie Center for Endowment building, which was a great change of venue for the class.During the week, the class voted for Class President and Honor Council Representative. Joe Hertzler won both votes in a close race.
Prabhu Aggarwal, Assistant Dean of the program, announced the international trip location at the Dean's Dinner. Class of 2010 was excited to find out it will be going to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in May. The class was fortunate to have guest speaker John Brandon, Director of International Relations and Associate Director of the Asia Foundation in DC, nearby to give them some background information about the destinations.
Other guest speakers included Angela Desmond, Chief of Staff and Chief Administrative Officer for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, who talked about regulation reforms in Professor Geary's accounting class.
It was a great opportunity to mingle with many of our alumni from Northern Virginia at the Dean's Dinner and they were thrilled to be part of the Mason family that evening. There was even an alumnus from 1997 - Brien Biondi - who was recently promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of League Assets Corporation!
There was time for fun activities as well. Some of the students enjoyed a baseball game (Nationals vs. Cardinals) and some chose to attend Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center.
