Lean Six Sigma

Quality Management Solutions and Continuous Process Improvement

The Center for Corporate Education offers two primary Six Sigma programs, the Six Sigma Briefing and the Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma certification.  The Six Sigma Briefing is offered twice a year as an open enrollment program.  The Lean Green Belt Training and Certification is offered as a custom program and can be tailored to meet the goals and objectives of any organization and industry.

Six Sigma Briefing

The Six Sigma Briefing is a half-day program designed to give participants an overview of what Six Sigma is and how it is being used as a quality management tool in today's business environment.  Additionally will cover:

  • The primary tools and methodologies of Six Sigma
  • How it differs from other management initiatives that have come before it
  • How it's being used across industries
  • How it can be deployed
  • Success stories of Six Sigma implementation

This format is ideal for companies interested in learning more about Six Sigma and those who want to see if the tools are a good fit for their organization or business unit.

Lean Six Sigma & Green Belt Certification

Lean Six Sigma is a management concept that blends the product quality focus of Six Sigma with the process improvement focus of Lean.  Together the two help companies improve the quality of their product and develop efficient process for product delivery to the customer.  This hybrid is ideal for business leaders who want to take the first step toward proficiency in the application of both tools.

 

Lean Six Sigma Program Outline

1.  Six Sigma for Business Transformation

  • Introduction - Six Sigma as a Business Transformation Philosophy--The DMAIC Process
  • Define Phase -Process Definition and Mapping, Selection of Project, Project Charter
  • Measure Phase -Voice of the Customer (VOC), Critical to Quality (CTQ), Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Process Capability
  • Analyze Phase- Process Analysis, Graphical Analysis, Data Analysis, Hypothesis Test
  • Improve Phase- Strategies for finding & Implementing Improvement, Design/Redesign Alternatives
  • Control Phase -Maintaining Improvement, Design of Control, Strategies for Continuous Improvement

2.  Continuous Process Improvement with Lean Concepts

  • The Lean Mindset - Definition of a process, Process mapping, Philosophy of Lean-reducing "waste" in processes, Performance metrics
  • The Goal of Lean-reducing "waste", Increasing efficiency/productivity through reduced asset levels (people, equipment, and inventory)
  • High-level Lean tools for: Finding and resolving inefficiency, Increasing responsiveness
  • Detail-oriented Lean tools for: Reducing defects, Making process status clearly visible, Synchronizing efforts within a process, Standardizing how work is done
