GAAP Gods Visit the ‘Burg: Brian Ware-Colantuoni, Joe LaFond, and Elise MacKichan (all MAcc ’08) welcome Bob Herz (FASB) to W&M’s first Excellence in Financial Reporting Conference, sponsored by Norfolk Southern Corp. and Smithfield Foods. The Conference was just after Halloween and so students arrived dressed as "The Original Pronouncements." Who says accountants aren’t creative?
No chalk on our shoes : Raymond A. "Chip" Mason, class of ’59 alum and founder of global asset management firm Legg Mason, urges an ongoing commitment to integrity. “I’m always telling my employees I don’t want them anywhere near the line,“ he says, referring to the chalk lines on athletic fields. "I tell them I not only want them to avoid crossing the line, I don’t even want them close enough to get chalk on their shoes."
Don't just find a job, find your job: Get to know alums and recruiters at events like Meet the Firms Friday and the Gibbs Accounting Society Dinner. Work with your faculty advisor. Consult W&M’s undergraduate and graduate career professionals. You’ll find the right job for you!
