Healthcare CAM students participated on Friday, Nov 6 in HIMSS VA Conference

The Healthcare CAM students participated on Friday, Nov 6 in the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society Virginia Chapter (HIMSS VA) conference, which is held annually each year at Kingsmill. The international HIMSS organization, which sponsors each state or regional chapter, is the largest professional and most renown international society of its kind. The VA chapter conference afforded an abundance of learning and networking opportunities with the some of the most prominent thought leaders in healthcare information management in our region up through DC.

Our CAM students competed in the poster session at HIMSS VA against VCUJMU, and GMU Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA)  and Graduate Healthcare Informatics students. Two of our four teams placed as follows:

1st place for $1000
  • Jeromie Ivie
  • Saleh Karaman
  • Allison Roeser
  • Bradley Sill
3rd place  for $250
  • Melissa Lyden
  • Taylor Moen
  • Amanda Shen
All students group posters received very favorable comments about the inclusion of big data and business concepts applied in a healthcare context, which is validation of their business acumen and ability to apply it in this industry.
