Biography
Scott McCoy is an Assistant Professor of MIS in The Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary. He earned his PhD in Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh.
His research in Cross Cultural Issues in IS, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and Telecommunications Policy has been presented or published (or forthcoming) in several national and international conferences and journals such as Information Systems Research (ISR), Communications for the Association of Computing Machinery (CACM), Information Technology and People, Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), and Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS).
He has been invited to give several talks on his research, most recently as a keynote speaker at the XVII Congreso Nacional y III Congreso Internacional de Informatica y Computación de ANIEI, Tepic, Mexico, October, 2004.
Prof. McCoy is heavily involved in the Association of Information Systems, most recently serving as co-Chair for the Human Computer Interaction Track at the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2006). He has also served as Chair for the International IS Research track for the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2004) and co-Chair for HCI track for AMCIS 2004, 2005, and 2006. He has also served as Co-chair for several minitracks at AMCIS, including HCI (2004-2006), Cross Culture IS Research (2003-2006), IS and Technological Issues in Developing Countries (2003 and 2004), and IT Systems Accessibility (2004-2006), as well as workshop co-chair for the SIG's annual workshop on research in HCI (2003-2005). He has served as Chair, Chair-Elect and Chair of Conference Planning for the Association for Information System's SIGHCI, and is currently the Past Chair of this special interest group.
He currently teaches Electronic Commerce and MIS. In the past, he has taught VB programming, Telecommunications, and HCI.
Prof. McCoy is a RPCV (Returned Peace Corps Volunteer) from the Dominican Republic and recently returned (Dec 2005) from a 30 day assignment with Crisis Corps helping Hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees.
