Biography
Laura E. Simmons joined the Mason School of Business faculty in 2008. She received her B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, her M.B.A. from the University of Houston, and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing her graduate studies, Laura worked for eleven years with Cornerstone Research, an economics consulting firm specializing in complex litigation. From 1986 - 1991 Laura was an auditor with an international public accounting firm. She is a Certified Public Accountant currently licensed in the state of Texas.
Dr. Simmons' research on securities litigation settlements has been published in a number of reports and is frequently cited in the public press and legal journals. She has spoken at numerous conferences and appeared as a guest on CNBC addressing the topic of securities case settlements. Her current research interests focus upon the intersection of accounting and litigation.
