Sharon  Owlett

Biography

Sharon Owlett has spent more than 35 years in the government and government contractor sectors, serving as an executive and in-house General Counsel for the majority of her career. She has worked in both large and small companies, and in a quasi-federal state agency. She helped grow a small start-up IT services company to a national public corporation, developing most of its infrastructure and serving on its board of directors. As in-house counsel, she assisted in the sale of two public companies and the purchase and integration of several others. She also led corporate ethics, governance, and securities compliance development and training as well as directed litigation and investigations. She served as corporate secretary for the public corporations and advised the boards and their committees. In addition to her experience as counsel, she has headed departments in finance and accounting, human resources, contracts and purchasing, government security, and facilities. She has also trained executives and employees in lobbying and political activity laws. Her experience spans the civilian, military and intelligence contracts sectors and covers both domestic and international business. Early in her career, she worked with print and broadcast press and was a television newswriter.

Ms. Owlett has been a member of non-profit boards for educational institutions and continues to serve in that capacity. She graduated with honors from The American University School of Government and Public Administration and received her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is admitted to the bar in Virginia and Georgia.
