Biography

Beginning as a technical specialist with manufacturer of refractory products for high temperature industrial applications, Vernon held various positions including Regional Sales Manager, Director of Marketing and Senior Administrative Officer.  Specific responsibilities in this B2B career included product management, managing a sales and marketing force, executive entertainment and coordinating an asset divestiture program ordered by the Federal Trade Commission to preserve competition after several refractory producers merged. 
Continued acquisitions and consolidation in the refractories industry led Vernon to early retirement from H-W Refractories in 2002.  He eventually began a completely new career in the financial services industry, joining Ameriprise Financial as a financial advisor.  Starting with no clients, Vernon built a successful practice and merged into King, Vernon & Associates, an Ameriprise Financial Advisory practice managing over $200 Million in client assets.  During that 12 year career, Vernon became a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and an Accredited Portfolio Management AdvisorSM prior to his retirement in 2016.


Vernon has a BS degree in Metallurgy from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Pepperdine University and a Certificate in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning.
